ARC Card

  • Time: 3–4 weeks.

What is it?

  • The Alien Registration Card (ARC) is your identification card for your legal stay in Korea. You must apply for your ARC as soon as possible after your arrival. You will apply for the ARC at the Korean Immigration office(출입국관리사무소–“Chool–Ip–Gook Gwan–Li–Sa–Moo–So”) that has jurisdiction in your area.

Required Documents

  • Call your local immigration office to find out exactly what documents you will need. Document you will most likely need:
    • Application Form (hikorea)
    • Contracts (Original and one Copy)
    • Passport (and copy of your passport)
    • 2 passport sized photos (3.5x4.5cm)
    • Fee: 30,000won (borne by the GET)
    • Foreign Occupation Report Form (found on hikorea)
    • Confirmation of Residence/Accommodation (provided by your school) (found on hikorea)
    • Housing contract (provided by your school)
    • Copy of business registration certificates (one from your school & one from GOE)
      *E2-1: health check is required for your ARC
      *E2-2 (EPIK): health check is not required to apply for your ARC

I lost my ARC Card‼ What do I do?

  • Call your local immigration office to find out exactly what documents you will need.
    • Go to the Immigration Office that has jurisdiction over your area.
    • Bring your passport, 1 passport sized photo, and cash.
    • You will need to fill out a new application form and a report form.
    • Once you have filled these out and presented your documents to the immigration agent, your new ARC card should be mailed to you within a couple weeks.
